Mixed climbing requires climbing on both ice and rock. Transitioning
from one medium to the other is difficult even with the safety of a top rope,
as I'm discovering here. More advanced mixed climbers make some very
acrobatic moves which leave them hanging upside down or pretzl-shaped
from a single ice tool.
