9 minutes after take-off, we arrive at the controversially
named "Red Tit hut" on the glacier at the foot of Mt. Serratus (at
bottom right in the photo). This will be our base camp for
the next 5 days. Because of the hut's reputation for
leaking like a sieve, we brought a tent along too.
Helicoptering in allowed us to bring lots of stuff we wouldn't bring if
we had to carry it all up on our backs... fresh vegetables, a 35mm SLR
camera with zoom lens, Crazy Creek camp chairs, etc.
